Whatever works
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for whatever works.
What does that mean? Well, for me this morning, it means waking up a little later. A second cup of coffee. A dance party in the kitchen.
Yesterday it meant my partner bringing home takeout for dinner. Getting into bed at 8 p.m. Starting the search for a babysitter.
This week has included all kinds of creative solutions, with the underlying theme of: whatever works!
Am I going to take that video call with a client while also jiggling a baby to sleep? Yes, I am! Am I going to do a 15-minute workout while distracting the baby with a crumpled envelope so that he’ll stay entertained and not maneuver himself directly under my planking body? Yes, I am! Am I going to complain to my partner about feeling like a living cliche even though things are actually going okay? Yes, I am!
Whatever works. It’s just one of those weeks/months/years, and that is JUST FINE.
Because this week I also managed to read this book (tough, but SO worth it), and appreciate this song (welcome reassurance in musical form), and last night I ate a delicious dinner I didn’t have to cook, and this morning I got to see my son laugh at my amazing dance moves.
So. This #thankyouthursday I am grateful for whatever works, and I hope you’re finding your way through with whatever works for you.
Love > fear,

p.s. B occupied himself in his high chair the entire time I was typing this. Now he’s covered in a crust of dried yogurt and he just managed to rip his bib off and throw it to the floor, but, I got to write you a complete message in one sitting! WHATEVER WORKS.
