Unsolicited airport rides
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for unsolicited airport rides.
Today I am going on a trip (which is something else I am grateful for), and I was debating whether to drive myself to the airport or take a Lyft.
Instead, my partner gave me a ride. Well actually, my partner and my toddler gave me a ride. At 5am.
In fairness, 5am is the toddler’s typical wake-up time (did I mention I’m grateful to be going on a trip?), and he was thrilled to visit the airport.
But 5am is not my partner’s typical wake-up time, and I’d previously told him I was going to take a Lyft. However, he observed that I was having some technical difficulties with my boarding pass, and he quietly got up, got our kid dressed, and took my suitcase to the car.
I didn’t ask for an airport ride, but he offered one, and I was grateful to receive it. Because of the unsolicited airport ride, I was able to work out the issue with my boarding pass while in the car, and I got to spend more time with my family.
Because of the unsolicited airport ride, I was able to have a smooth start to my day instead of a stressful one, and I got to feel loved and supported.
Now I’m writing this from an airplane that is about to take off, and I am grateful.
Love > fear,
Christina
