Tiny tune-ups
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for tiny tune-ups.
This gratitude is not unrelated to last week’s appreciation of resets. In fact, I guess you could say that tiny tune-ups are basically miniature resets.
And I need them.
This week has been packed. Like, I haven’t had this level of scheduling commitments + personal responsibilities in years, and I can say that without exaggeration, because the other day I was trying to figure out the last time I felt this particular strain of intensity + overwhelm and it was definitely when I lived in New York City, aka years ago.
Except, I haven’t actually been overwhelmed. More like on the brink of overwhelm, protected by tiny tune-ups.
Things like 5-minute MommaStrong hacks. Twenty-minute meditations (or are they naps?). A few deep breaths (a few dozen times).
Also things like sticking to a coffee date with a new friend even though it doesn’t feel like I have the time, and scheduling more massages and therapy sessions, because, oh yeah, those really help.
Taken individually, I’m not sure any of these actions is powerful enough to keep me even remotely relaxed. But together, these tiny tune-ups are transforming a potentially tense week.
And I am feeling grateful.
Love > fear,
