Therapeutic friendships
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for therapeutic friendships.
Yesterday I used some of my paid child care time to catch up with a longtime friend who is also a fellow working woman/primary caregiver. I put 30 minutes on the calendar suspecting it would actually be 60, which it was, and I am so grateful.
That hour cost me something—missed opportunity to earn income, actual money for the babysitter—but it was also invaluable.
And also, while I’m all for paying for therapy, it was cheaper than therapy.
If you are a working woman who has children, odds are good you would have been right at home on our phone call, and I sincerely hope you also have access to wonderful friends who can hear your whole truth without judgment.
Because the whole truth might not always look good on Instagram, but it needs to be said, and heard, and understood.
In other words, the whole truth needs therapeutic friendships, and I am grateful to have them.
Love > fear,
