The Office of Historical Corrections
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for The Office of Historical Corrections.
The novella and short story collection by Danielle Evans has been on my list for months, and this week Libby told me I could start reading.
Admittedly I am only two stories in, but as Common taught me when I listened to “The Light” as a teen, “it don’t take a whole day to recognize sunshine.”
This book is so good. The writing style scratches all my itches, and while the content is certainly significant, mostly it’s just a joy to read good writing.
And during a week where the work for racial justice shows both progress and more pain, I’m especially grateful to celebrate art that shares perspectives I need to better understand.
Love > fear,
Christina
