The Nap Ministry
This #thankyouthursday I am grateful for The Nap Ministry.
B slept for five hours straight last night—a new record, by hours(!!)—and I am VERY deeply appreciative.
So I was going to tell you how thankful I am for sleep. But really what I meant was that I was grateful for rest, and as soon as I thought about the true importance and significance of rest, I of course thought of The Nap Ministry, created by Tricia Hersey.
From Tricia: "We believe rest is a form of resistance and name sleep deprivation as a racial and social justice issue."
I encourage you to follow The Nap Ministry on Instagram; the posts range from encouraging to challenging—and always illuminating.
And even though (especially because?) my baby is strongly refusing his morning nap as I type this, I am grateful to The Nap Ministry for helping me value and support rest in a new light.
Love > fear,
Christina
p.s. Remember The 1619 Project? The Root announced yesterday that it’s becoming a movie (and more)!
