The distinctive comfort of a homemade Earl Grey latte
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for the distinctive comfort of a homemade Earl Grey latte.
I’m actually grateful for a magnitude of people and experiences this week, but sometimes when I’m overwhelmed with appreciation it helps me to get really specific and focus on something tangible.
Like the creamy warmth of vanilla-sweetened steamed milk poured into a brewing cup of hot Earl Grey tea.
I do love (and am chemically dependent on) coffee, but lately instead of a second cup/dose around lunchtime, I’ve been opting instead for tea, specifically a homemade Earl Grey latte. Or, more specifically, a London Fog, which is technically what an Earl Grey latte becomes once you add vanilla syrup.
I’ve perfected my recipe and technique over the last couple years, yielding an easy process with reliably satisfying results. And although I’m tempted to go into further detail, this is a gratitude newsletter, not a cooking blog, so if you want to know what milk steamer I use or how I make vanilla syrup, just ask.
Comfort can come in many forms, and I am grateful I find something distinctively soothing about the form of a homemade Earl Grey latte. And I hope today you can receive something similarly soothing for you.
Love > fear,
Christina
p.s. My new book, 49 Days to Real Love, releases on December 26, aka the day I met my husband, which, the book is basically a preface to that. If you’re interested and able, I’d love for you to preorder a copy!
