Rest, not to be confused with sleep
This #thankyouthursday I am grateful for rest, not to be confused with sleep.
Mind you, I am also grateful for sleep—when I can get it, which lately has not felt like often enough.
But even when sleep is lacking, rest can remain available. I guess I understood that on some level already, but last week when I sat down to bring through a new moon meditation message, I also asked about what could best support me over the next few very busy weeks, and this is what Wisdom told me:
You need to rest. Also to sleep, but rest can transcend sleep, can appear in the form of ease alongside exhaustion. Give it a rest. Let it rest. Leave the rest. Allow for rest, in the stretch of a breath.
Ah, what a concept, rest in the stretch of a breath. It reminds me of a gratitude post I wrote last year about the space at the bottom of a breath.
Because of course it all comes back to the breath, which of course I find comforting: Even when I’m tired, I’m still breathing, and as long as I am breathing, I can rest.
Love > fear,
