Recurring deposits
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for recurring deposits.
There are two types of recurring deposits on my mind today, and it’s hard to say which evokes more gratitude, so I’m going to express appreciation for them both.
One type of recurring deposits are financial. Specifically, the gains of a reliable paycheck. Seeing my bank account get replenished on a regular schedule is not something I take for granted. Every time it happens, I feel a swell of relief and gratitude.
The other type of recurring deposits are more figurative: acts of service and self-care. It’s truly taken me years to build steady habits, and there have been times I thought it would never happen, particularly regarding exercise. But these days I have a whole set of routines and commitments that, one action (deposit) at a time, help me to feel healthy and connected.
And here’s the thing about these recurring deposits I so appreciate—they are, almost always, smaller than I would prefer. I absolutely wish I were making more money, that I was spending more time on my yoga mat, that I could show up for more volunteer opportunities or more relaxing evenings on the couch.
But I have come to (sometimes begrudgingly) accept that what I receive is always enough. And even small deposits add up. Especially if they are recurring.
So I am grateful for recurring deposits, whether it’s pennies or thousands, seconds or days. I can trust that I am cared for, always.
Love > fear,
