My marriage
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for my marriage.
Five years ago today I made a decision that has absolutely changed the course of my life, and I am grateful for it.
My spouse and I got married one month after we met. That’s not a choice I would recommend for everyone, but it was the right choice for me/him/us, and I would make it again and again and again.
Since then, it’s almost unfathomable how much has happened. For that matter, there is a lot happening right now! And we are still in the room together, finding our way forward.
The day we got married, we went to see my therapist first (a very abbreviated form of premarital counseling, I suppose you could say). She said it seemed like we might both be looking for security, and neither of us disagreed.
There is not a lot about life that is guaranteed. But we do always have choice, and we each chose to be secure in each other.
I’m grateful we are still choosing today.
Love > fear,
Christina
p.s. Some of you might remember that when I got married, the plan was to have a reception/celebration five years down the road. Maybe it’ll be year 10, instead?
p.p.s. On a related note, did you know I documented the days leading up to the miraculous manifestation of my marriage? It’s all there in 49 Days to Real Love: How Calling In "The One" Led from Breakup to Marriage in Less Than Two Months.
