Morning pages
This #thankyouthursday I am grateful for morning pages.
Morning pages have been part of my daily routine since 2012, when, with the help of some accountabilibuddies, I worked through The Artist’s Way and began writing every day.
(Side note: That writing group and our Artist’s Way experiences are directly responsible for the existence of Are You My Boyfriend?, which, speaking of, I discovered a reader’s recent storytime video I welcome you to enjoy.)
It takes about twenty minutes for me to write stream-of-consciousness for three pages, and since having a baby, I don’t always get those twenty minutes. But when I do? Oh, am I grateful.
Today I really needed my morning pages. I was grappling with some complicated feelings about situations I cannot change—and when I can’t change a situation, pretty much the only thing I can change is my attitude. And morning pages really help me change my attitude.
So this #thankyouthursday, I claimed those twenty minutes and wrote my way toward clarity, or at least into peace, which is good enough for me.
Love > fear,
Christina
p.s. Morning pages are one of my small anchors that keep me grounded amid uncertainty. What are some of yours? Hit reply (or leave a comment) and let me know!
