Imperfection
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for imperfection.
Whenever I receive the same message multiple times from different sources, it’s usually a sign to pay attention.
And the past few days, I’ve gotten many reminders that perfection is not only pointless (read: impossible) but also oppressive.
We have enough oppression in our world. I don’t need to add to it inside my own head.
Enter, imperfection!
When I allow myself to “get it wrong”—more specifically, when I guarantee myself that mistakes are both inevitable and okay—it feels like a pressure valve on my brain gets released.
So this #thankyouthursday, I am amplifying the message I have received so often this week, in case maybe you need to hear it, too.
Imperfection is acceptable. It helps me learn, and move forward, and lighten up. And I am grateful for all that.
Love > fear,
p.s. I haven’t read Brené Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfection, but the title was running through my head while I was writing this, so, I’m including this link to a video preview (because I don’t have time to read the book or even watch a full video, which is totally cool because, imperfection FTW).
