Fresh tracks from MC YOGI
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for fresh tracks from MC YOGI.
I’ve written (okay, gushed) about MC YOGI before, and it amazes and humbles me that nearly five years later, he is still dropping fresh tracks and I am still grateful for them.
Last night I discovered he has a new EP, and today after preschool drop-off I started listening and haven’t stopped. Specifically, I have had the track “Practice Makes Progress” on repeat for about an hour.
I am not going to even try putting words to the feelings this track evokes in me. Or at least, not cohesive words. But here are some one-offs: Relieved. Assured. Comforted. Inspired. Relaxed. Reminded. Realigned.
It’s like…so much has changed, is changing, will change. But there is always a core of truth I can hold to. And MC YOGI’s music has been directing me toward that truth since 2011.
Today I drove home to the beat of “Practice Makes Progress,” nodding my head to his assertions: “all these distractions just cause reactions…pressure adding up in the form of attachments…I let go of the outcome and stay focused on the process.”
As I drove, I thought about the last time I was fully immersed in MC YOGI’s music, five years ago when I was going through an intense stage of growth and unknowing. I was so grateful for MC YOGI’s music then; I had a rare opportunity to see him live that I fully seized, and I am so glad I did.
MC YOGI and I are living very different lives. But we are embracing the same certainties. We are both yogis on the journey, and I know the road will continue to twist and turn. And I also know that “practice makes progress, practice makes progress.” The surest way forward is to “let go of the outcome and stay focused on the process. Stay focused.”
Love > fear,
