Cinnamon dolce syrup
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for cinnamon dolce syrup.
For the longest time, my favorite Starbucks treat has been a tall coffee in a grande cup with three pumps of cinnamon dolce syrup and a splash of half and half.
For the longest time, cinnamon dolce syrup has been unavailable almost everywhere, just one of many COVID-related supply chain casualties.
Obviously the unavailability of my preferred coffee flavoring is low on the list of problems and concerns, and in fact, I’ve actually managed to have it a few times in the last year despite the shortage, thanks to my partner’s resourcefulness: he figured out that the Starbucks inside our local Target still had some cinnamon dolce on hand. (Let’s just not think about how old it must have been. It tasted great!)
Still. Every time I’ve used the Starbucks app for the last nine months, no matter the city or state, whenever I’ve tried to order ahead and I’ve requested a coffee with cinnamon dolce syrup, I’ve gotten an “out of stock” notification.
Until two days ago.
Of course it was a pleasure to walk in and once again pick up my favorite drink, but what I’m really grateful for is the symbolism of the thing.
Because while I understand the pandemic isn’t over, it’s clear the climate is changing. Life is opening up, and it feels like “the other side” is in sight. And it tastes sweet like cinnamon dolce.
Love > fear,
