Balance
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for Balance.
I capitalized “Balance” because in a concrete way I am grateful for a specific meditation app called Balance that I definitely encourage you to try if you’re curious.
I’ve been meditating in various forms for many years, and I’m finding the way the Balance app approaches meditation to be both novel and effective. If you want to hear more about why, I’m happy to share, but I won’t do that here because this gratitude message would then turn into an app review that I don’t honestly have time to write.
But I do have time to express gratitude for Balance, both the uppercase app and the lowercase principle/aspect/goal.
Because of balance, I can pause before forcing my way forward; I can consider my true priorities and what I really need. I can make thoughtful compromises rather than resentful ones.
I think balance is more aspirational than attainable, but that’s okay.
Like, one of my life goals is to do a handstand—a very physical manifestation of balance. But I don’t have any expectation of ever staying in that position for more than a minute. The real work is in getting there: building my muscles, learning and trusting my body’s capabilities and limits.
The moments when everything aligns just so and I am flush with peace and triumph are great. But it’s the continued showing up—the conscious seeking of balance—that really makes me grateful.
Love > fear,
Christina
