A painfully stiff shoulder, resulting from a solid night’s sleep
This #thankyouthursday, I am grateful for a painfully stiff shoulder, resulting from a solid night’s sleep.
Truly, I cannot recall the last time I had a solid night’s sleep. I am, however, sure that the night before last I had an exceptionally terrible night’s sleep, so yesterday I was exceptionally tired, and last night I received a wondrous blessing: My child easily and quickly went to sleep, and stayed that way.
At that point, I had a choice. I could have gone to find my partner and spent some quality time with him, without our kid. That option was very, very tempting.
But also, I was very, very tired.
Is a choice really a choice if you fall asleep before you make it?
When I woke up this morning, it was five thirty—at least half an hour past when I am typically awoken(!). And as soon as I opened my eyes, I realized that my shoulder was painfully stiff.
This is because, apparently, I, too, easily and quickly went to sleep, before I had a chance to adjust the pillows or make sure I was in a position that would support quality sleep posture.
So I did not have quality sleep posture. But I sure did get quality sleep. And the soreness in my shoulder is 100% worth it.
Love > fear,
